Hawkeye parents connect on Facebook

There are things you need to know as a parent of a University of Iowa student, and now there is a new place on the web you can get quick answers to your questions—from both UI staff and other parents just like you.

Iowa has created a University of Iowa Parents Facebook page to serve as an online community for parents of future, current, and former Hawkeyes. It’s a place to network and learn about what’s going on at Iowa.

“The great thing about a Facebook page like this,” says UI social media coordinator Eric Page, “is that you can post a question, and you’ll get a timely response from a staff member, but you also might get 15 responses from other parents who have shared your experience.”

You’ll need a Facebook account to interact with the page. Facebook is free and anyone can join. After you “like” the page, you can expect to see regular updates in your newsfeed. There will be reminders about deadlines, links to campus news, information on events like Parents Weekend and graduation, and more.

But the Parents page is just one of many ways you can stay connected with the university on Facebook. See the list above for a few other official University of Iowa Facebook pages you may find useful.
